This morning we caught a train from King Cross, aka living the Harry Potter dream (not Ash), to Cambridge. The trip was pretty brief and only took 45 minutes. It did however decide to pour as soon as we got off the platform. The wind, as you will see, was insane. Although according to both the tourist info lady and our walking tour guide it was "a beautiful day". To be fair though, the rain did subside.

Struggle town. Very scandalised. |
We walked around for an hour or so to get our bearings and joined a walking tour with a local student. We went to a few of the colleges, which together form 'Cambridge University', and were able to go into the grounds of Pembroke all for free, which was pretty great. We also saw a few local landmarks such as the pub where Watson and Crick announced their discovery of DNA, a terrible clock that works only every 5 minutes with a hideous 'time eating' creature and which also cost around 1million AUD. Read if you care.

Trinity College (as much as we were allowed to see for free anyway) |
After the tour we walked up a hill to a 'lookout' called Castle Hill where we sat on the ground and ate the best fudge in the world. We also nearly got blown off the hill and had to escape quite soon after. It was still worth it.

We then found the Fitzwilliam Museum, which turned out to be in an amazing historic building. It was full of ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Medieval and general old artefacts. (Including some really fun porcelain statues). Eventually we got to the top floor which ended up being the most amazing part of the museum as it was full of paintings by Degas, Renoir, Monet, Matisse and also one of the super famous Queen Elizabeth 1 paintings. But in true Ash and Elise style, we had spent too much time in the wrong areas and were asked to leave for closing.

More historical archee-tech-cha aka the museum |
Then, before we left for London we decided to get an early dinner and spoilt ourselves to a meal at Jamie Oliver's Italian. Which was of course, deliciou-so.
