Barcelona to Bordeaux. June 20

Another travel day, our second eurail adventure. Today to Bordeaux, officially crossing the border to France and leaving the lovely Spain behind. We were both not really ready to leave Barcelona, both feeling like we didn't get to experience the city as much as we would have liked. We were also very tired this morning, after having a less than ideal sleep and now having to get a relatively early train. Not only that but we didn't get any breakfast and it was already so hot and sweaty. The metro to the main train station was a nightmare, so hot, so many stairs to climb with all our luggage and very busy. At one point we were packed into a train with our luggage and couldn't actually move, shoving our bags on everyone. It was pretty bad.

Finally on the train we were lucky to score the carriage with 20 odd American teenagers. What a dream. But actually we both were not the happiest with this situation. Lucky for Elise she can sleep on any buses or trains all the time. Ash can never sleep on transport, mainly out of fear of falling asleep and ending up somewhere completely different. Our first journey went to Narbonne, in France, where we had to swap trains. The layover was about 1.5 hours however, so that was helpful because we could finally eat some food. We then boarded the next train to Bordeaux.

Arriving in Bordeaux it was a quick bus ride to our next place, but it was so hot and there was a McDonalds right there so we decided it was pertinent to get our Oreo mcflurries NOW. They were well worth it, as figuring out what ticket we would need for the next bus was way too complex. Finally getting our ticket, two buses later, we got on and got to our place. The apartment is very cute. They left so many cute things for us, like breakfast foods and juice and milk, and also a whole lot of bathroom supplies! Plus the bed was very comfy and apartment was lovely.

We literally crashed that night, cooking a stir fry with rice and going to bed at 10.30pm. Party animals. But actually it was such a good sleep and prepared us for the day exploring Bordeaux to come.

Lots of love A&E

P.S. Soz no photes, we're sure you can imagine why (re: ugly sleep deprived, sweaty faces).
