Today was the day. The day to meet the Kropps in Paris. Hello to the Kropps reading this, welcome to your blog debut. Welcome to your 3 days of fame. You're welcome.
Anyways. Ash and Elise awoke in their mezzanine, only hitting their heads on the roof a couple of times and got ready for the day. Firstly they went to the supermarket close by to get some breakfast goods and nesquik, then to the local patisserie to get the birthday boy (Ash's brother Nick) a cake. We then planned to meet the Kropps for a walking tour around Paris, just after midday. We caught the metro, with no disruptions, into central Paris, got a coffee and met the fam. Several cute family photos and Vegemite transactions later, we left on the walking tour. Also did we mention the heat? Let's say this again. HEATWAVE. It was hot, and pretty funny for the Kropps because they'd just come from the ice age in Australia and had literally flown into Paris at 7am after their 30+ hour flight and were still alive. They also looked reasonably alive. We were both in awe of this achievement and also that they survived the 3 hour walking tour of Paris in the heat.

The tour was really good, orienting us with the city, the sights and helping us to decide what to do. We saw the Notre Dame, the Seine, the love lock bridge that is no longer covered in locks, the Louvre and many other key places. After the tour we went to a cafe and planned out our next three days together, to get everything we wanted to do in. We also de sweated, and re caffeined. Can we just point out again that the Kropps were still very much alive at this point, which impressed us so much. We planned to meet again in a couple of hours at the their apartment in Montmartre, in the north of the city, and then find a dinner place to celebrate Nicks birthday.

hey pal eiffel |
We metroed back to our place, briefly picked up our cake for Nick and Ash's Moroccan teapot Shaz had kindly let Ash offload to her (by kindly we mean Ash gave her no choice in the matter). Several metro lines later we got to Montmartre and climbed the several hills and staircases to villa ala Kropp. Their apartment was very cool BTW, like ideal location, and big. Also on a slant, which makes finding things easy because they all roll down to one corner of the room. Nick decided on the Classic Italian for dinner, which we were very happy with and we all ordered pizzas, sitting outside to enjoy the weather. After we went back and celebrated with cake, which was so tasty!

We left the Kropps to rest up, because the next few days were going to require all our energy. We also needed much sleep and it was hot so that mezzanine was struggle town.
Lots of love,
A&E
