Edinburgh to London. May 26

This morning was a bit all over the place. We needed to pack our stuff and leave our place at 12, then take our luggage across the city to the bus station to lock them in a locker until later when we had to leave for the airport to fly to London. Initially we were going to be catching the train from the Edinburgh to London, a trip we were realllllllyyyy looking forward to. However, a week before the trip we found out that for the first time in 22 years there was a rail strike, yay. So our train was indefinitely suspended and we needed to find some other way of getting to London because the tomorrow is flying to Morocco day. We quickly bought some cheap airfares, which is quicker to fly and they leave at 6, giving us more time in Edinburgh.

So Elise really wanted to go to Leith (re: sunshine on Leith) but we needed to get some errands done, so we split up and Elise caught the bus down to Leith and Ash did a few things like chase down Maplin to return a power adapter (it was much further walk than she thought).

Elise found Leith centre and it was super beautiful! She was rushing around to try and see everything, and even managed to find a few locations from the family fave film 'Sunshine on Leith'. She had a walk around for a while, and took a super long walk to the docks, which actually were super boring. Eventually she found a bus and took it back to meet Ash in Grassmarket.

We then met up for some ice cream at Mary's Milkbar (our fave place ever) and enjoyed some delishness before heading back to our bags and catching the tram to the airport. The tram btw only goes from the city centre to the airport and cost them so much $$$, way over their budget to build (the budget was for the entire city tramline and was in the millions, the one line was in the billions), good one Scotland. The tram was relatively quick and we quickly got to London.

Now for the important part. Because we were now on limited time in London, and the only thing we wanted to do was return to Homeslice, our favourite pizza place on earth.

Okay so. Homeslice closes at 10.30pm. We arrived at around 8.30pm, got to the train at 8.50pm ish then got to our hotel at 9.45pm ish (We need to add in here that because we are now gods of the tube, we planned our hotel to be at a station that is wheelchair accessible and therefore suitcase lifting was not necessary). We dumped our stuff, left the hotel, got to the train station, caught the Piccadilly line to Covent garden, got out of the station, navigated our way to Homeslice and it was packed. No need to rush at all. But we got a table pretty much straight away, ordered our fave, Margherita half and half salami, rocket and Parmesan and downed that pizza so quickly. It was yet again, amazing, well worth the rush from Heathrow and the one night stay in London. We then walked from Covent garden to Oxford Circus and enjoyed our last night in London and the UK, wishing we never had to leave. But Morocco tomorrow though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Xoxo A&E
