Marrakech. June 10

Today we had a lateish morning and then decided to finally go see the Majorelle Gardens, which Khaled had told all of us to try and see. Before we went we decided to get some lunch and stopped into a cool (temperature) cafe, where we both ate some variety of Kefta, which we still can't get enough of. After this we walked to the gardens, getting pretty hot and bothered along the way, but as soon as we walked through the gates and into the shade of the trees, we felt instantly relieved. It was very manicured, with lots of cacti and ferns rather than grass and bushes, which was super interesting. Water featured a lot too in lots of different ways, and it was all super beautiful and fun to walk through.  The gardens, or 'Jardin Majorelle' were saved from being sold into redevelopment by Pierre BergĂ© and Yves Saint Laurent in 1980, and there is a memorial to thank the latter in the gardens. The buildings are also painting in a magnificent blue, which is now know as Majorelle Blue.

'Beauty' in nature

After some time in the gardens and having fully soaked in the incredible variety of cacti they had we decided to head back to the hotel to get ready for our flight to Lisbon tomorrow.  Along the way some men yelled out to us calling us gazelles, which is super weird and we aren't really sure why, but it was pretty funny. On the way back we walked down to an amazing looking patisserie and chose two fancy looking cake/dessert slices and two macarons to take back to the hotel. Once we got back we ate cakes while we packed into the night.
