Paris. June 30

Today we got up early and headed straight for Musee d'Orsay to get in the line. We arrived at 8.30am for a 9am start, but it turned out they open at 9.30. This was still fine because it meant we were super close to the front and we also met Shaz, Mikey, Nick and Kate, so we all just hung out and chatted in the early sun. Eventually we got inside and it was great. The gallery, if you haven’t seen it, is super beautiful because it used to be a train station, and there is a lot of light pouring into the foyer. We spent a good while looking around, and it was obviously super great to see the floor with all the amazing impressionist works.

So floaty

Tried, not enough sass

Ah yes, much interest, very wow

After leaving the gallery, we walked to Madeline where we dropped into Laduree, a must, obviously. We ate our tasty macarons as we walked to, and down the Champs Elysee. Along the way we made some stops in some stores, partly for shopping, but mostly for air-conditioning. The heat wave was starting to get old.
We got to the Arc de Triomph, but absolutely were not up for climbing it. We had a good look around though, and also took the necessary snaps.

Is that salted caramel? YES OF COURSE

Paparazzi follow Nick and Kate everywhere, so tiring
We split from the Kropps for a few hours and went back to the apartment to drop some things off, and pick stuff up to take to the Kropp’s apartment in Montmartre. We met back at their place and not long after, all walked down to the Moulin Rouge, where we would meet for our tour of the area.
The tour was pretty nice. We had the same guide as the previous day, and she was super into this tour, so it made it even better. She told us stories of the artists who had made the district famous, and walked us by Van Gogh’s house, the last windmill standing out of many that had once been used by nuns to made wine, the last winery, a building that had been a regular restaurant for Picasso before he was famous, and finally Sacre Coure.

OH YES NICE VIEW, GOOD WORK PARIS

NICK SAID WHAT?

We walked back down the hill to finish the tour, and past the corner grocer that features on the film Amelie. Pretty good!

We went and got dinner after this, and Elise and Nick got ‘Big Salads’, which was mostly Elise’s choice in honour of Elaine. After dinner, we walked down the hill to a metro station a bit further away in order to try and get rid of our food babies. Eventually we got home and got to sleep for another early gallery morning.

Love A&E xx
