Brussels to Amsterdam. July 7

Today encompassed us sleeping in, as usual on a travel day, heading to the station by bus, then catching the train to Amsterdam. Arriving in Amsterdam we caught the train to our place, which we thought was a fair distance from the downtown area, but actually turned out to be an ideal distance. It was maybe 10 minutes on the train, only a couple of stations from the central station. The area we stayed in was very residential and a big community. It was so quiet and nice, with everyone so lovely. We basically were in public transport heaven, with the tram, train and bike rentals all a quick walk away. Our place too, was lovely. Like our ideal home, with pastel crockery and towels. What a dream.

We thought we should make the most of our earlyish arrival and also the fact that we were absolutely starving, and sought out the best Asian Amsterdam could offer. A quick trip to downtown in the muggy, sunny weather we were at Happy Asia. We got the tastiest noodles and fried rice and left Happy Asia very happy and committed to returning. Our next move was the wander downtown and see what we could find on foot. Our first encounter was the many beautiful canals and bridges, and also the many thousands of bikes. Like, we all know hat Amsterdam and bikes are a thing, but I mean it was on another level. They were locked to anything vaguely eligible for locking, rails, banisters, poles, everywhere. And also everyone was riding one. Barely any cars and so so so many bikes. It was glorious. The houses along the canals were also amazing. We're sure we'll say this time and time again, but even at this point we knew we wanted to live in this beautiful city.

Old school T.V deliveries

Next on our wander we found the red light district. By accident. Like, totally unavoidable right there in the city centre. We wandered through onto the central area near the train station and then to fro yo because why not. We then headed back to our place via the supermarket, which FYI, nothing here accepts credit cards. Which made paying a little difficult for us. We spent the rest of the night relaxing and were very glad for the bed in our place, so much more comfortable than the previous, with real pillows, not impromptu pillow blankets made in lieu of the real deal.
