After finally leaving the house we headed for Museum Island to visit the Neues Museum, which we had heard was interesting in both content and also the architecture. The building was mostly destroyed during the World War II, and was left as an abandoned bomb site until it had to have emergency repairs in the 80’s. In 2003 the architect David Copperfield began work on restoring the museum in a way which incorporated the ruins, while also modernising it.
The exhibits were extensive and pretty fun! We saw the bust of Nefertiti and some silly pottery, so all-in-all, a win!

After finishing up at the museum we headed to a cafĂ© called Five Elephant to meet Kaylin for coffee and cheesecake. Cheesecake! And also another cake! It was super yum and we gorged on it a bit. A friend of Kaylin’s met us there and we all headed off to a flea market she had heard about. Although the market turned out to be a little bit pricey and limited, it was in a pretty cool little area with a bar and a pool that floated in the river.
We decided to go to a rooftop bar, but we got there at it was unusually busy (aka, an hour+ long line), so the girls took us to a bar on a street full of nice places. We had Basil Gin Smashs and they were ridiculous tasty. Some of their friends met us there and then after all heading to another bar, we crashed and left them there in preference of some zzz’s.
Lots of love,
A&E
