After finally leaving the house and embracing the intense heat, thanks Vienna for continuing that heat for us, we headed by tram and train to Secession, a contemporary art gallery that was originally designed for the secession movement of Vienna which included Gustav Klimt and his contemporaries. It's a super beautiful Art Nouveau style building and contains the famous 'Beethoven Freeze' by Klimt. We saw some contemporary art exhibits inside which were pretty cool and fun to go through. There were some large scale paintings and books by Laura Owens, and a larger exhibit by Cao Fei. Cao Fei's exhibit was expansive and pretty silly/fun. There were some video pieces, computer games and projections. She even had the facade display of the Secession changed to fit in with part of her work, so it was pretty great.

After this we caught a metro to meet Ash's friend Miranda (Grin) who was in Vienna on her way from Greece to Spain. Meeting Grin, we all walked down towards Ringstrasse, the famous street that encircles the centre of Vienna. This street is flanked by the most incredible buildings, like the town hall and several museums and galleries. The town hall at the moment also has a big film festival on so the outside is full of food stalls with heaps of different cuisines and screen for the films. We planned to return. We then meandered to the centre of the city and saw the amazing Stephansdom, the huge gothic cathedral towering over Vienna. It's a pretty impressive cathedral and Grin was amazed at it, as she's only been in Greece and Turkey so far, not having seen this type of architecture. For us it was defs impressive, but her amazement was on another level! We walked through the city, discovering some ruins of a previous city wall and many other interesting sights before heading to an Indian restaurant for dinner. We were all very ready for Indian and had a pretty good feast. After this we split ways for the day and we headed home to enjoy some quality relaxation time in a slightly cooler environment.
