Fethiye to boat. September 19

So today was the day we left land for a week to join a boat in its journey on the seas. Woah so exciting right? We slept in, ensuring a proper start to the week, and then got breakfast before walking to the main road, which was maybe 3km away to find some stuff we needed before getting on the boat. After sweating a ridiculous amount we found what we were looking for, walked back to the hotel to get our luggage then got a taxi to the port where we had to check in with Topdeck. We had a half hour between then and getting on the boat so we got a quick coffee then headed back to meet our new pals for a week.

We met, but didn't actually meet each other, and all went to the boat. We actually then met each other and our captain, chef and deckhand for the next week. So the group comprised 5 friends from London who weren't British (3 Australians and 2 Canadians), 3 British girls who were friends, 3 Melbourne girls who were also friends, one British solo lady, one solo girl from Brisbane and one solo guy from Canada who also lived in London. And us.

The crew all seemed really nice too, and we would later learn more about them and become better friends.

But for now it was just getting to know our other trip members, and finding out which ones were super annoying and we had to avoid.

In terms of the actual boat, it was actually pretty big and nice. So we got the honeymoon suite, which basically meant it was at the end of the boat and had a giant window out the back. Which was so good because everyone else's rooms were mega stuffy and hot in the night. Also views out our back window were decent. All the rooms had pretty nice ensuites too, better than some hotels we'd stayed. Up on deck there were two areas for laying in the sun, one above the undercover loungeroom area and the other above the kitchen. There was a middle section with a bar and large table for meals, and another back section where the captain steered and drove the boat and also had another big table, bean bags and a big couch area. This part was also able to be totally enclosed and on the stormy days we all spent so much time here.

We started the sail heading to a small bay, staying briefly, then onto Tarzan Bay where we docked for the night. At most places we docked we couldn't actually leave the boat and we never really had wifi, so this was a proper test of everyone's ability to entertain themselves. We coped pretty well though, playing games, reading and just getting to know everyone. It was stormy and rainy tonight which was pretty fun for our first night. Also the food is very exciting.

More from the boat tomorrow,
Xoxo
