Istanbul. September 11

We had a very important date today. A date with avocado and poached eggs. As you would understand this is a date not to be missed! We had found a cafe not too far from our place the other day and saw on the menu they had an avocado salad with poached eggs and we couldn't not try it!

It was delicious by the way, the cafe is Aheste Pera in the fancy neighbourhood of Pera. Pera is actually so nice and is exactly our type of place, with many cafes and cool eateries which we can't wait to try.

After fuelling up we headed over Galata Bridge, past the many fishermen searching for fish in the Bosphorus, to the other European side. Here we heard the amazing call to prayer of the many huge and impressive mosques that lie on this side on our way to the Grand Bazaar. It was pretty hot today and quickly we'd worked up a sweat. The streets leading up to the Grand Bazaar were busy with many people selling their wares, and heaps of people searching to buy what they wanted. The actual Bazaar itself was a little underwhelming. Unsure whether we had just come at a bad time or if it was always like this, we explored it nonetheless. It was really quiet and was selling mostly fake bags and shoes, similar to a lot of other markets you'd find in Asia and also Morocco. We did see the occasional decorative lighting store or scarves, but other than that there was not much that impressed us.

After we'd given the Bazaar a decent look through we left to wander back across to our side of the Bosphorus. We were so hot and sweaty we basically went straight home, via fruit and veg, and spent the night attempting to catch up on some blogs. Didn't we do well.

Love A&E
