Istanbul to Fethiye. September 18

Today we leave for Fethiye, which is on the south coast of Turkey and as we will soon find out, is incredibly popular for the retired community of the United Kingdom.
We took a taxi (which our lovely host went and got for us), to a bus station and from there we took a 50-minute bus ride to SAW airport, which is on the Asian side on Istanbul.
Our flight to Dalaman airport was short enough and after collecting our baggage and waiting for a good while, we took a Havas bus to Fethiye Otogar (main station), and from there we took a taxi to our pension.

By the time we got here it was 5.30 in the afternoon, and we had left at 9.30 from our Istanbul apartment. 8 hours for a 50 minute plane journey!
We walked around town for a bit and got dinner at a restaurant overrun by the grey haired population of England. We got ice creams as we walked home, and on the way noticed a couple in the little park along the way, acting strangely. Turns out the guy thought that this dingy little playground was the perfect place to propose to her, as opposed to the amazing beach 10 minutes down the road. We kind of stood watching in horror, and she watched us watching, and it was all a bit awkward so we left. But good for them.

Lots of love,
A&E
