Venice to Florence. August 21

To Florence today! What a dream! We took the Vaporetto, two trains and a very confusing bus ride (which became two when we realised we had gone too far) to get there, but it was all worth it of course. Plus, it didn’t actually take that long and we had lots of time for activities after our lovely airbnb host had checked us in. The apartment wasn’t our finest accommodation, but we won’t linger on that.
We walked into the city of town which is the easiest walk ever. It’s probably about 10-15 minutes and the road around the corner from our accommodation takes to you down to the street that connects Piazza della Signoria to the Duomo.
We treated ourselves to the most gigantic, most expensive cone of gelato ever, but it was safe to say it was in the top 5 best of all time tasting. So worth it.

We took a look at the public sculpture gallery Loggia dei Lanzi, admired some taut marble buttock’s and had a look inside Palazzo Vecchio, all while avoiding the creepy clown performing in our midst.

A,J & L Brand, you may remember this babe

We passed between the Duomo and the Basilica (which annoyingly was totally covered for restoration), and made it to the Ponte Vecchio to take in the idyllic Florence river views.

On our way back we stopped for a while in Piazza della Repubblica and ended up back inside Loggia dei Lanzi where we sat sleepily for maybe an hour.

We eventually made it back home and ate a tasty dinner of fresh pesto, sun dried tomatoes and bread.

Lots of Love, A&E
