Istanbul. September 10

We didn’t leave until late today because we are super tired. It’s been a decently long time and Elise has a killer cold so just give us a break. Jeeze. But also, to those of you still with us, thanks for making it into the 6th month!

So we walked over the road and into the district Pera, where stopped at a café called Noir Pit. Here we had a flat white each and shared a cheesecake and we were in absolute heaven. We stayed here for a while, relishing in the café chat times we so love back in Melbourne.

We continued on to Galata, where we took the lift up to the lookout of Galata tower and took in the amazing views of Istanbul. The city is massive, and in some areas spans as far as the eye can see. The Bosphorus is big and shiny and lovely and the skyline of the Old City with the mosques and Topkapi palace is pretty wonderful.

After our visit we explored Galata for a while, which is a super steep area of the New City but also filled with lots of great cafes and little shops full of design wares and hand made jewellery. Eventually we ended up back on Istiklal avenue where we wandered for a while and ‘found ourselves’ in a shop that specialised in Turkish delight and baklava. We bought a box of baklava and were given a free piece each by the man at the counter, and when we asked for 4 pieces of Turkish delight from the other counter, we were given that free too!!!! Amazing!!

Cool

We took everything back home and ventured out again late than evening to a Thai Restaurant called ‘Cok Cok Thai’ that we had seen and heard was good. It was amazing, actually. Some of the best Thai we have even had!
